eTwinning Georgia Conference June 1-2 2018

I had a chance to visit the Popular Flea Market that runs every Saturday and Sunday come rain or shine.  Items of interest at the Market Lots of antiques It's everything you would expect from a flea market or jumble sale/car boot. It is exactly that where ordinary people bring items from home that they want to sell.  Why Georgia's is so unique is that the antiquity and historical value of what is on offer is invaluable.  The typewriter and the phone are my favorites Large selection of old cameras You can spend hours meandering the what seems like countless stalls and small market streets to pick up odd trinkets especially items from the Soviet era. Fascinating place to spend some time with very reasonable and bargain-able prices. Old toys Loading up for departure Rain or shine! After the conference workshops we headed into the city to take in some sights and discover the nightlife of Tbilisi. Georgia Underground The town gets busy on a Friday night and it did not disappoint. From the bustling metro to the excitement on the city streets where Georgian and tourists enjoy a cafe and restaurant lifestyle in the warm weather.  City at night Fabrica- an old Soviet Factory turned into a night life hot spot! We walked for a while taking in some of the sights in the city centre until we reached the Fabrica/ I was totally impressed with this makeover It's a type of Upcycle that many cities with old disused buildings could learn from. The afternoon was all about workshops of which I presented at two. One was in English and the second with my translator Kate. We had the most fun with Quizlet live but others such as Umake (3D design) Autorap and Flipgrid were also quite popular. Classics like Decide Now always go down a treat to those who may not have heard of it before. The participants in Georgia are, as always, inquisitive and engaging. Photos at the end are a must! The conference room has bee beautifully presented for the opening ceremony and speeches about cultural heritage which is the European theme this year. We have a full day of workshops and events to cover over the next two days. e Twinning is a wonderful online learning experience for students but also gives teachers an opportunity to attend CPD and gain further insight into the resources available to everyone in the learning community. I was invited to present my workshop on ICT tools in the classroom at the e Twinning Georgia conference after attending a Professional Development Workshop in Bristol, last October.  The idea for the opportunity to attend the eTwinning Conference in Tbilisi, Georgia was borne during an eTwinning PDW event in Bristol in October 2017. The event brought eTwinning Ambassadors from across Europe to the south of England to learn about new innovative ideas to use with e Twinning projects and meet like-minded Ambassadors keen to start partnerships and share experiences.
